Christos Lambakis

Supreme Court Lawyer

Christos Lambakis is a Supreme Court Lawyer, with main focus on criminal law cases. He has also represented clients before the European Court of Human Rights.

He was born in Thessaloniki in 1983. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Democritus University of Thrace (2006), with a Master’s Degree in Criminal and Forensic Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2010).

He is a Doctor of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, writing his tesis on “The statute of limitations of crimes in substantive criminal law” (https://www.sakkoulas.gr/el/editions/ch-lampakis-i-paragrafi-ton-egklimaton-sto-ousiastiko-poiniko-dikaio-2022/).

Since 2021 he has been teaching at the Department of Criminal and Forensic Sciences of the Faculty of Law of Democritus University of Thrace.

He was a grant holder of the Public Benefit Foundation “Alexandros Onassis” for the completion of his doctoral thesis, while he was also awarded the scholarship – Excellence and Innovation Award by the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2013.

Dr Lampakis was also a member of the Greek delegation to the expert meeting of the EU Member States under the European Commission for the transposition of Directive 2013/48/EU on the right of access to a lawyer in criminal proceedings (2015) and a member of the National Representative for Greece, in the meeting of the Contact Group on the Freezing and Confiscation Directive organized by the Secretariat of Organized Crime and Drugs Policy (2019). He has also been an expert for Fair Trial International in relation to criminal law and criminal procedure issues.

He has been training at the Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg, Germany, on a DAAD scholarship on German criminal law (July 2015). He was a visiting scholar at Queen Mary University of London Law School, and in 2019 he participated in a research visit to Harvard University Law School, USA.

He has also been a member of legislative committees and of several research projects and scientific bodies.
